Changeable chokes offer an efficient system to increase ballistic yield of firing patterns resulting from matching the shotgun and the munitions.
The major disadvantage of fixed chokes is that it is impossible to use chokes of intermediate size when the user needs them. The right choice of muzzle diameter and of chokes affects shot speed.
The phenomenon produced by reducing choke diameter is due to clear physics principles, showing that a decreasing barrel diameter yields higher shot speed. Consequently, an increasingly choked barrel yields proportionally increased speed and higher kinetic energy.
In order to properly measure out kinetic energy amount and distribution, the user can choose the interchangeable choke he needs according to his own requirements.
Interchangeable chokes also adjust the shotgun to different kinds of munitions that can show different pressure diagrams, with very high peaks or patterns showing long firing lags.
Obviously, chokes are not sufficient to obtain the best performance; however, by optimising the use of chokes it is possible to substantially affect shotgun performance and, consequently, results.
In F.A.I.R.® shotguns great care is paid to barrel inside-finishing and to interchangeable chokes.
For barrels adjusted to interchangeable chokes, F.A.I.R.® offers several different sizes of chokes, ranking from * to CL. Interchoked guns are the best way to adapt to different hunting situations.
Each gun is equipped with a key to remove the choke from the barrel.
The use of TECHNICHOKE® for Sporting guns is growing more and more necessary, and F.A.I.R.® proposal is a far advanced choice for choosy shooters.
On request, TECHNICHOKE® are available for all models, both 12-16-20 and 28 bore.
The complete set includes five chokes and the removing key. |
